Prof. Sakiru Oladele AKINBODE is a Professor of Development Economics at the Department of Economics, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB). He was born about 5 decades ago in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria. He obtained B.Agric, MSc and PhD in Agricultural Economics in 2001, 2005 and 2010 respectively from the FUNAAB. He also obtained another MSc and PhD degrees in pure Economics from the Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Nigeria. Prof Akinbode briefly worked as an Administrative Officer with FUNAAB Consult Limited before taking up appointment in the Federal Civil Service at Abuja where he worked as a Monitoring and Mobilization Officer at the Federal Department of Rural Development under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development from 2006-2007. He was later transferred to the Ibadan field office on request. He joined the Department of Economics of the Lagos State University in 2009 and joined the services of FUNAAB in 2011. He teaches Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Health Economics, Development Economics, Production Economics, Mathematical Economics, Econometrics, Quantitative Techniques for Business Decisions, among others.

Prof. Akinbode has supervised about 98 BSc students, 8 Professional Masters (MBA) students, 10 MSc students and co-supervised 4 PhD students. He has attended a number of conferences and workshops in Nigeria and overseas where presented his research outputs. Prof Akinbode has published a total of Seventy-two (72) articles in referred peer-reviewed academic journals, 4 edited conference proceedings and 3 technical reports. He is a member of Nigerian Economic Society (NES), Nigeria Association of Agricultural Economists (NAAE), and International Society for Development and Sustainability (ISDS) based in Japan. Prof Akinbode rose through the ranks and was promoted to the position of a full Professor on October 1, 2023.

Prof. Akinbode has served as Consultant to some International Organizations, Ministries, Departments, Agencies and private business organizations in the areas of Policy Impact Assessment, Social Impact Assessment, Environmental Impact Assessment, Business Feasibility, Field Survey Studies among others. He served as the Head of the Department of Economics from 2018-2020 and presently the Deputy Dean of the College of Entrepreneurial and Development Studies, FUNAAB.
