Professor Olugbenga Adeoluwa
Olugbenga AdeOluwa is a Professor of Soil Fertility at the Department of Soil Resources Management, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Olugbenga is a Registered Soil Scientist with focus on Soil Fertility and Soil Testing, at the Department of Soil Resources Management, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He was a DAAD scholar at University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany in 2004. He was a Norman E Borlaug Fellowship scholar on Organic Agriculture certification through the USDA at Washington State University, USA in 2009. Prof. AdeOluwa is an expert on organic agriculture and agroecology. He has been the National Coordinator of the Organic and Agroecology Initiative – ORAIN (a coalition of organic and agroecology organizations in Nigeria) since 2022. He is also the Continental Coordinator of the Network of Organic Agriculture Researchers in Africa -NOARA. Olugbenga was the Vice-Chair at the Pilot phase of the Ecological Organic Agriculture Initiative – EOA (under the supervision of the African Union Commission) in 2012 and a member of the Continental Steering Committee of the Initiative with activities in nine countries of Africa from 2013 till 2023. He was a member of the Board of the African Organic Network (AfrONet) from 2012 -2023. Among other national and international roles, he and other two people pioneered what is now known as the West African Organic Network (WAfrONet) which he led till 2014He is also the National Lead Investigator for the EU funded [Co-Producing Knowledge on Sustainable Growth through Service Learning Pedagogy between African and European HEIs] (COPAFEU). He is the Principal Investigator for the Sasakawa Africa Association Nigeria – TERRA Africa regenerative agriculture project in the University of Ibadan. Olugbenga has trained over 200 strategic people in the governmental and private sectors of Nigeria on organic agriculture and agroecology.
